How was Kate Upton discovered?
I can not verify Kate Upton’s being “discovered” in the traditional sense of being scouted. I know that she went to an open call at Elite Models Miami. This was back when Elite Models had its offices in the Marlin Hotel at 1200 Collins Ave. She signed the same day a 2 year contract with them.This to me is not being discovered. Maybe it was suggested to her to be a model, but attending a open call would be a bit more of a discovery than Christopher Columbus discovering the United States. More so, Elite was not where she got her break. When she was “discovered” again by IMG, that is were she began to get into Sports Illustrated. And once a girls is in SI Swimsuit or Victoria’s Secret, their careers are pretty much set from there.
